Shipping Policy
We aim to process and ship all orders as quickly and carefully as possible. Below you’ll find detailed information about our order handling and delivery process.
Order processing
Orders placed on business days before 5:00 PM (CET) are processed the same day through our European distribution partner (Gardners EU). Please note that 'processed' means your order is prepared and packed; handover to the carrier (UPS) typically occurs within 24 hours. Orders placed after 5:00 PM, during weekends, or on public holidays are processed on the next business day.
Shipping & carrier
TOKYO READS (a trade name of Baker Studio) specializes in importing English manga for the Dutch market. To offer our extensive collection of over 10,000 titles, we partner with Gardners EU, a leading European book distributor. All orders are fulfilled and shipped directly from their central warehouse in France via DHL to ensure fast and reliable delivery.
Delivery times
Because we ship from our central EU hub, orders are typically delivered within:
- The Netherlands: 2–4 business days
Shipping costs
Shipping costs are clearly displayed during checkout before the order is finalized. Shipping costs per country are as follows:
- The Netherlands: €3.95 (flat fee).

Free delivery: We offer free delivery on all orders above €50
Pre-orders
Some products are offered as pre-orders. For these items, shipping times begin once the product has been officially released and processed by our distribution center.
Estimated release dates are provided by publishers or distributors and may change. Pre-orders are shipped as soon as the item becomes available.
Shipping confirmation & tracking
Once your order has shipped, you will receive a shipping confirmation email including a tracking link (Track & Trace), if available. Please note that tracking updates may take up to 24–48 hours to appear after dispatch.
Delays
While we do our best to meet the stated processing and delivery times, TOKYO READS cannot be held responsible for delays caused by the carrier or circumstances beyond our control. Please ensure your shipping address is complete and accurate. We are not responsible for delays caused by incorrect address information.
Undeliverable Packages & Address Accuracy
Please double-check that your shipping address is complete and accurate, including any apartment, suite, or room numbers. TOKYO READS is not responsible for orders that cannot be delivered due to incorrect or incomplete address information.
If a package is returned to our warehouse because of an address error or because it was not collected from a service point in time, the order will be treated as a return. In these cases, the original shipping costs and any Return to Sender (RTS) fees charged by the carrier will be deducted from your refund, even if the order originally qualified for free shipping.
