Return Policy

TOKYO READS, a trade name of Baker Studio, wants you to be satisfied with your purchase. This return policy applies to all physical book products sold by TOKYO READS, including manga, graphic novels, light novels, artbooks, omnibus editions, box sets, and similar items.

Right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have the right to withdraw from your order within 14 days after receiving it, without giving a reason.

If your order is delivered in multiple shipments, the withdrawal period starts on the day you receive the last item in your order.

If the last day of the withdrawal period falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or public holiday, the withdrawal period is extended until the end of the next business day.

After informing us of your decision to withdraw, you must return the products to us within 14 days.

How to request a return or withdrawal

You can exercise your right of withdrawal by using the online return or withdrawal function available through your order/account page, or by contacting us at info@tokyoreads.com.

Any clear statement informing us of your decision to withdraw from the order is sufficient.

After submitting your request, you will receive instructions on how to return the items securely.

Inspection and handling

You may inspect the product as you would in a physical store, only to the extent necessary to determine its nature, characteristics, and condition.

Returned items should be sent back in the same condition as received, insofar as this is reasonably possible after normal inspection.

If a product has been handled beyond what is necessary for normal inspection, TOKYO READS may deduct the resulting reduction in value from the refund, as permitted under applicable consumer law. This may apply, for example, to visible signs of use or damage such as spine creases, bent corners, dents, scratches, stains, discoloration, odors, missing components, damaged packaging, or incomplete box sets.

For box sets, the box, slipcase, and any included extras must be returned complete and undamaged, insofar as this is reasonably possible after normal inspection.

Non-sealed products

Most book products are not delivered sealed. Therefore, all returned items are carefully inspected upon receipt.

Visible signs of use, damage, missing components, or incomplete box sets may result in a partial or full reduction of the refund amount if the product has been handled beyond what is necessary for inspection.

Damaged or incorrect items

Please inspect your order upon receipt. If you receive a damaged product, a defective item, or an incorrect item, please contact us immediately at info@tokyoreads.com and include clear photos.

If the issue was caused by an error on our part, we will resolve it at no cost to you, for example through a replacement or refund.

Return shipping costs

Unless the return is due to an error on our part, such as a damaged, defective, or incorrect item, return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.

You are responsible for packaging the items securely and using a suitable shipping method. We recommend using a tracked shipping service.

Non-deliverable orders

If we notice an error or ambiguity in your shipping address, we will make reasonable efforts to contact you by email before the package is returned by the carrier.

If an order is returned to us by the carrier due to an incorrect or incomplete address, refusal of delivery, or failure to collect the package from a service point, we may deduct the actual outbound shipping costs and carrier return fees from the refund, unless the issue was caused by an error on our part.

If free shipping was applied to the original order, this free shipping offer may no longer apply when the package is returned as undeliverable for reasons outside our control.

Refunds

If you withdraw from the entire order, we will refund the purchase price and, where applicable, the standard outbound shipping costs. Additional shipping upgrades are not refunded.

We will process the refund without undue delay and no later than 14 days after we have been informed of your withdrawal. We may withhold the refund until we have received the returned goods or until you have provided proof that the goods have been returned, whichever occurs first.

After receiving the returned items, we will inspect them and process any applicable reduction in value if the products have been handled beyond normal inspection.

Refunds are made to the original payment method where possible. Please note that your bank or payment provider may need additional time to process the refund.

Exchanges

We do not offer direct exchanges. If you want a different item, please return the original item and place a new order.
